Synopsis

The objective of the study is to evaluate the risk factors (lifestyle and genetic) of gallbladder cancer from different institutes in India.  All patients diagnosed with gall bladder cancer will be prospectively analyzed. Demographic, epidemiological, socioeconomic, clinical features and treatment offered to patients with gall bladder cancer will be recorded. Their lab evaluation, staging and treatment will be as per standard of care.

The study aims to provide primary prevention strategies, possible intervention for screening/early detection of gall bladder cancer and improve upon diagnosis and treatment of gallbladder cancer.

The study plans to develop a nationwide hospital based registry on gallbladder cancer.

It also aims to formulate a collaboration of scientists and clinicians from institutes and their hospitals to undertake studies related to risk factors (lifestyle and genetic) of gallbladder cancer, provide primary prevention strategies, possible intervention for screening/early detection of gall bladder cancer and improve upon diagnosis and treatment of gallbladder cancer at a later date based on the data generated from the cancer registry.
