CONFERENCE TRACKS
‘Evidence Based Head and Neck Cancer Management – Optimizing Care’
The Annual Evidence-Based Medicine (EBM) Conference at Tata Memorial Centre, Mumbai, is among India’s most respected oncology gatherings, dedicated to advancing evidence-based cancer care. For over two decades, it has brought together clinicians, researchers, and policymakers to deliberate on the latest data-driven strategies for cancer management. The 2026 edition marks the 24th EBM Conference.
This year’s theme is Head and Neck Cancers, which account for nearly one-third of India’s cancer burden, with oral cavity cancers among the highest worldwide. The epidemiology is driven predominantly by tobacco and alcohol use, and most patients present with advanced disease, highlighting the urgent need for earlier detection and stronger public health interventions.
Clinically, India faces the challenge of managing high-volume, complex cases while addressing treatment-related morbidity that affects speech, swallowing, nutrition, and quality of life. Advances in surgery, radiotherapy, and systemic therapies have improved outcomes; however, disparities in access to treatment and survivorship care remain significant.
At EBM 2026, head and neck oncology will be addressed with a comprehensive, 360-degree holistic approach. The central focus will be on critically appraising the latest developments, discussing resource-stratified treatment approaches, and shaping strategies that balance cure with compassion and equity. Sessions will highlight advances across all subsites of head and neck oncology, with dedicated discussions on rehabilitation, survivorship, and evolving treatment options for recurrent and metastatic disease.
