Memorial Centre announces the ‘2nd Thyroid Preceptorship program’. This
week-long course will cover all aspects of thyroid cancer management including clinical,
surgical, imaging, pathology and basic concepts of adjuvant radioiodine
ablation and treatment. The course is intended to impart focused training for a
select group of surgeons.
thyroid cancer has increased in recent years.In the USA there is a 2.4 fold
rise and a growing trend is seen across Europe, South America & Asia. In
India as well, the incidence is on the rise. Thyroid cancers generally have
good prognosis with long term survivors and focus should be on reduction of
morbidity with its long term implications. Surgery is simple but requires
technical skill. There is however, a lack of uniformity in training amongst
thyroid surgeons from various backgrounds (General Surgery, ENT and Endocrine
Surgery). It is therefore imperative to have adequate training to prevent
