The Tata Memorial Centre (Tata Memorial Hospital) is the premier institution in India engaged in education, research and comprehensive care of cancer patients. The department of Palliative medicine at TMH represents a comprehensive and sustainable model of holistic care that enhances wellbeing at the physical, emotional, social and spiritual dimension for patients with advanced life limiting illness and their caregivers.
Doctors and registered nurses are invited for certificate course in Essentials of Palliative Care. The course is designed to train nurses to meet the increasing demand of palliative care at various health care setting. This course aims to inculcate the principles of Palliative Care to improve patient care through proper communication and effective management of difficult symptoms. The course will help practicing doctors and nurses to inculcate principles of Palliative Care in their day-to-day professional practice. The course contents include introduction to principles and practice of Palliative Medicine, principles of pain management in advanced illnesses, pain pharmacology and rational pain prescription, communication skills, non-pain symptoms, comprehensive care planning, case based discussions and open forum.

Doctors who have successfully completed MBBS/ BDS/ BAMS or pursuing internship and registered nurses GNM or B.Sc Nursing
