The Tata Memorial Centre (TMC) is a Comprehensive Cancer Centre with a mission to achieve the best standards in patient care, cancer prevention, cancer research, and cancer education and professional development for oncology and allied disciplines. TMC is an autonomous Grant-in-Aid Institute of the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India. TMC is affiliated to Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI) and the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS). The HBNI is a Deemed University of the Department of Atomic Energy with a mission to develop high quality post-graduate educational programs in science and technology including those related to Life and Health sciences. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

Professor & Head, Department of Medical Oncology
M.D. /D.M. (Medical Oncology) or equivalent postgraduate degree recognized by Medical Council of India with 16 years of experience in the specialty in a recognized teaching hospital. Eligible candidate must be working as a Professor and have been a recognized Guide for D.M. Medical Oncology. Candidates should have plenty of work experience and proven track record in the areas of clinical care, education and research in Medical Oncology. This position requires leadership qualities to execute institutional policies and to advance the clinical care services, clinical research portfolio and teaching and training of Medical Oncologists at TMC.

Professor & Officer-In-Charge, Department of Biochemistry
M.D. (Biochemistry) or equivalent postgraduate degree recognized by Medical Council of India with 12 years experience in Clinical Biochemistry of which at least 4 years must be as an Associate Professor with proven track record in service, education and research spheres in Clinical Biochemistry. This position requires the operational skills for running state of the art Clinical Biochemistry facilities and providing logistic support to all the translational and clinical research programs at TMC and maintaining the accreditation and QC of all the laboratories at Tata Memorial Hospital and ACTREC.

Associate Professor, Radiology
M.D. or equivalent postgraduate degree in Radiology/ Radio-diagnosis recognized by Medical Council of India with a minimum 5 years experience as a Lecturer or Assistant Professor of Radiology in a teaching hospital. Research experience in MRI imaging and MR research is desirable. In the likely absence of suitably qualified candidate, radiologists with three years post M.D. experience as Senior Residents will be considered for appointment in a lower Grade of Assistant Professor.

D.M. (Medical Oncology) or equivalent degree recognized by MCI OR M.D. in General Medicine or equivalent postgraduate degree recognized by Medical Council of India with 3 years post M.D. exclusive experience in Medical Oncology in a recognized institute. Candidates without D.M.  if selected will be eligible for appointment as an Adjunct Teaching Faculty.

D.M. (Medical Oncology) or equivalent degree recognized by MCI after M.D. / equivalent degree in Pediatrics OR M.D. in Pediatrics or equivalent postgraduate degree recognized by Medical Council of India with 3 years post M.D. exclusive experience in Pediatric Oncology in a recognized institute. Candidates without D.M. if selected will be eligible for appointment as an Adjunct Teaching Faculty.

Assistant Professor, Radiation Oncology
M.D. (Radiation Oncology) or equivalent postgraduate degree recognized by Medical Council of India with minimum 3 years Post M.D. experience in a MCI recognized teaching hospital or cancer centre. Adequate experience in Brachytherapy techniques, advanced 3D conformal treatment planning techniques and IMRT are desirable for this position.

Assistant Professor, General Medicine
M.D. (General Medicine) or equivalent postgraduate degree recognized by Medical Council of India with 3 years post M.D. experience in the specialty or its allied sub-specialties after postgraduate qualification in a large teaching hospital. Selected candidate will need to work in an interdisciplinary program to provide comprehensive General Medicine Care to Cancer patients and to the staff of Tata Memorial Centre.

Assistant Professor, Intensive Care Medicine
M.D. degree in General Medicine, Pediatrics Chest Medicine or Anesthesiology or equivalent postgraduate degree recognised by Medical Council of India with 3 years experience in an Intensive care of a large hospital or cancer centre after post graduation.  Diploma or Certified Training in Intensive Care is desirable.  Candidates must be well versed with all the ICU related procedures including cardiac pacing, portable ECHO cardiography and renal replacement therapies.

Assistant Professor, Transfusion Medicine
M.D. (Transfusion Medicine) / M.D. (Immuno-haematology and Blood Transfusion) or M.D. (Pathology) or equivalent postgraduate degree recognized by Medical Council of India with 3 years post M.D. experience in a FDA recognized Blood Bank. For candidates having M.D. (Pathology) or equivalent degree, a PG Diploma in Transfusion Medicine is desirable.

M.D. in Nuclear Medicine or M.D. in Radio-diagnosis or an equivalent postgraduate degree recognized by Medical Council of India with 3 years post M.D. experience in PET and Fusion Imaging (PET/CT, SPECT/CT) in a recognized teaching hospital.

M.D. (Anesthesia) or equivalent postgraduate degree in Anesthesiology recognized by Medical Council of India with 3 years post M.D. experience in Anesthesia. Experience in critical care and pain management is desirable.

Assistant Professor, Palliative Care Medicine
M.D. or M.S. in any Clinical Branch or equivalent postgraduate degree recognized by Medical Council of India with minimum 3 years post M.D. /M.S. experience in Palliative care in a large hospital or cancer centre. A Post Graduate Diploma or Certified Training in Palliative Medicine is desirable. In the absence of suitable candidates, doctors with one year post M.D. /M.S. exclusive experience in palliative care will be considered for appointment in a lower Grade as Lecturer.

M.Ch. (Surgical Oncology) or equivalent degree recognized by MCI. Exclusive experience in breast cancer management for one year is desirable.

M.Ch. (Urology) or equivalent degree recognized by MCI with 3 years experience in Urology in a recognized institute. One year experience in Urological Oncology is desirable. Selected candidates will be appointed as an Adjunct Teaching Faculty in Department of Surgical Oncology.

Nursing Superintendent
M.Sc. (Nursing) or equivalent postgraduate degree recognised by Nursing Council of India with minimum 10 years experience after M.Sc. (Nursing) of which at least 5 years should be in Nursing Administration. Applicants should be well experienced in Nursing Administration. Experience in continuous professional development of nurses and postgraduate education of nurses is desirable. This position requires proven track record of leadership qualities for executing institutional policies and establishing frontline service, training and research facilities in Oncology Nursing.

Head, Dispensary & Pharmacy Services
Masters in Pharmacology (M.Pharm) with minimum 5 years work experience in a Dispensary of a large Hospital of which at least 2-3 years should be at a senior level.  The incumbent must have adequate knowledge of material management & computerised operations and should be able to maintain on-line systems.  The candidate should be able to lead a team of Pharmacists for functions of purchase, stores, sales and administration.

Deputy Chief Security Officer:(Grade II)
Graduate from a recognised University. Preference will be given to ex-servicemen/Police Personnel worked in a senior capacity not below the equivalent rank of Captain/D.S.P. in the Army/Police respectively or the candidate should have worked as Security Officer in a large civil organisation for a minimum period of 8 years in the pre-revised scale of Rs.6500-10500.  He will be well versed with vigilance work, fire fighting procedures and field work, Police Liaison, Domestic Inquiry procedures etc. and should be dynamic having proven leadership qualities. The candidate would need to assume total administrative responsibility to co-ordinate and organise all stated functions in the Security Dept. and will assist the Chief Security Officer/Chief Administrative Officer in the over all administration of Tata Memorial Hospital at Mumbai and ACTREC at Navi Mumbai.  He may also have to handle the entire security work independently in the absence of the Chief Security Officer.

Officers will be appointed as Scientific Officer (Medical) in the appropriate Scientific Grade and given an Academic Designation as per the Medical Council of India norms.

Pay and allowances including NPA, DA, HRA, TA, etc will be admissible under the prevailing rules of TMC.  Medical officers will become eligible for institutional financial support for active participation in National and International Medical Meetings, Workshops and Conferences, etc. after their probation is closed. Medical Officers will become eligible for sharing the Private Practice Revenue in lieu of the NPA as per the existing rules of TMC. All officers will be enrolled into a contributory health insurance scheme for self and dependants. Residential accommodation will be provided subject to their availability. All officers will also be eligible for retirement benefits and pension under the new pension scheme.

Candidates may be offered a salary grade in a higher or lower grade than what is advertised based on their actual teaching experience, research track record and based on the overall assessment at the time of interview and recommendation of the Selection Committee. 

Departmental candidates who are presently in a grade lower than what is advertised may apply for promotion to the higher grade apart from the existing merit promotion scheme. They will be considered and called for Interview only in cases of exceptional and proven documented merit for a fast track review.

Appointed candidates will be rotated based on the needs of the concerned Departments at the Tata Memorial Hospital Parel campus and ACTREC campus as and when necessary.

The TMC also has an option to offer appointments on “Contract Basis” for a fixed term on a consolidated salary.

UPPER AGE LIMIT:   50 years for Sr.No. 1, 2,16 to 18 and 45 years for Sr.Nos.3 to 15.  Age will be reckoned as on 17.11.2008.  Relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC.  Age may be relaxable in cases of exceptional merit, qualifications, and special needs for the development of the Department and for Departmental candidates.

Application should be sent alongwith non refundable Demand Draft/Bankers Cheque for Rs.500/- (Rs.100/- for SC/ST candidates) drawn in favour of Tata Memorial Centre, Parel, Mumbai – 400012.  For Out Station candidates called for interview, the reimbursement of amount would be restricted to the train fare(other than Rajdhani/ Shatabdi/ Janshatabdi trains) not exceeding first class/AC-III Tier fare excluding reservation/ super fast surcharge/safety surcharge, etc. from their normal place of residence in India and back strictly on production of tickets and evidence indicating class of journey.

Video Conferencing/Telephonic Interview may be arranged for the candidates presently working abroad subject to availability of the facility.

It will be mandatory for Sr.Nos.1 to 15 to produce documentary evidence (e.g. Certificate from Dean of his/her Institution or Supplementary PG registration certificate from the State MCI branch) of postgraduate degree recognized by the Medical Council of India at the time of interview, if not furnished earlier.

Typewritten Application in the prescribed format only super scribing the post applied for on the cover alongwith a recent passport size photograph affixed on right hand top corner with attested copies of all certificates should be forwarded to the H.R.D. Officer, Tata Memorial Hospital, Parel, Mumbai – 400012 so as to reach him on or before 17.11.2008. Persons working under Central/State Government/Autonomous Body/ Semi Government Organizations and other Public Sector Undertakings should submit their application through proper channel.

Separate applications should be submitted for each post.

Names of Three Referees to be given by the candidate should be closely linked to training and experience within the last 5 years.

Late and incomplete applications are liable to be rejected. Last date for receiving applications may be relaxable in respect of candidates working or training abroad.  No correspondence of any kind will be entertained.  Canvassing of any form will disqualify candidates.

The Tata Memorial Centre reserves the right to restrict the number of candidates called for the interview to a reasonable limit, on the basis of qualifications and experience. Mere fulfilling the prescribed qualifications will not entitle an applicant to be called for interview.  The Tata Memorial Centre also reserves the right of rejecting any or all the applications without assigning any reasons thereof.
